FAQ:
Where are you located?
To board dogs in a free-play environment we must be out in the country. We are located in northern Oregon near Longview, Washington.

Where do your guests eat and sleep at night?
All of our guests take their meals and sleep overnight indoors in our climate controlled bunkhouse. In order to keep everyone safe and calm during mealtime and nighttime, most of our guests eat and sleep in a crate with a cushioned pad and a blanket.

What will my dog do all day at the ranch?
All of our guests are free to explore the 2 acres of fenced grass, trees, creek, covered patios and playroom all day long. Here at the ranch we’re all about dogs being dogs. They make up their own doggie games with each other and we throw balls and chase them around too! We also have two llamas and an alpaca for them to play with…on the other side of the fence of course.

How can I check up on my dog while I’m away?
We post pictures to our Instagram account as close to every day as we can. We try to get at least one picture of every current guest but some pups are just camera shy! You can also feel free to send us an email or give us a call. But if you haven’t heard from us, then your dog is having a great time!

Does it snow? What about rain? Will my dog be cold in the winter?
All dogs love snow, though we rarely get much of it. Our 1700 sq’ playroom is heated and insulated but if it’s snowing, you won’t find many dogs in there! All of our guests have all-day access to the playroom with raised dog beds and 3000 sq’ of covered patio area to stay dry, if they even want to stay dry! Any dog that’s wet when it’s time to go to bed gets a nice brisk toweling off, which may the only thing all dogs love more than snow!

Can I bring refrigerated dog food?
Yes, we have a refrigerator just for dog food.

Do you charge extra to administer medication?
No

How close is the nearest veterinarian?
We have a 24/7 on-call veterinarian about one mile away.

Does my dog have to be spayed/neutered to stay at DDR?
Yes

How old must my dog be to stay at DDR?
Our policy is 1 year but occasionally we can make an exception based on the circumstances. Also to keep in mind, the ranch is not an appropriate environment for very senior, feeble or chronically special needs pups

How big must my dog be to stay at DDR?
We currently have a 20lb minimum limit. We typically cater to dogs on the larger size, averaging around 70lbs.

What are my payment options?
Our overnight rate is $50 and you may pay by check or credit card. We use Square to process and keep credit card numbers on file (if you would like).

Double Dog Ranch Oregon Overnight Dog Boarding.png
A free play, free roam, home-based overnight dog boarding farm in Rainier, Oregon offering free shuttle service to Portland twice a week! | A rural dog retreat! | The best choice for dog boarding in the region: Portland, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, West…

I first learned about Double Dog Ranch when one of the boarding facilities in Portland politely declined to board our large and boisterous 9 month old boxer. The owner of the boarding facility suggested that we look into Double Dog Ranch, because she said that she even sent her dog that was a handful there. The ranch is a beautiful place. The large outside play area on the grassy hills is great for dogs that have a lot of energy and personality. Lemmy has since been back to the ranch several times. Now when he gets on the little school bus to head up to the ranch, he doesn’t even look back at us. It is clear that Jonathan and Zoe also love Lemmy. Knowing that he is having so much fun and is being well-cared for, lets us not feel badly about leaving him when we go on vacation. On top of all that Zoe and Jonathan have been great to work with. When our plans have changed and we wanted to extend or shorten Lemmy’s stay, they have been accommodating. In all, the ranch is a beautiful place that is run by dog lovers who provide great customer service.” — Matt
